Welcome to the website for Advice Centres for Avon (ACFA) – a network of independent advice agencies providing high-quality legal advice to the public across Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.

You can also find self-help materials to begin managing your problems yourself in the ‘Resources’ section in the menu above.

Community legal advice

Many of ACFA's members meet the quality standards set by the Legal Services Commission.

You can find out more via the Directgov website (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/GettingLegalAdvi...) where you can  find a local legal adviser or use their calculator to see if you qualify for legal aid. Information is available in English & Welsh.

You can also use the Community Legal Advice telephone helpline (0845 345 4 345), which provides independent advice about debt, education, benefits and tax credits, employment and housing problems to people who live on a low income or benefits.

Mobile users can text 'legalaid' and their name to 80010 to receive a call back from an adviser within 24 hours.
